Lecture today was at NUH. The women's health one. It was really funny. The lecturer is Dr. Kuldip Singh. I think he is a gyny at the hospital and also lecturing this module on Women's health.
Today's lecture was on Contraception. One thing I would like to tell anyone who reads this is have 10 children and have fun, but please don't use the Intrauterine Contraceptive Device! Really, the amount of problems it may cause. I rather have 10 children due to my hyperactivity and suffer financially than use the IUCD and suffer the medical complications it might pose in future. Don't know how women would consider it. It may cause ectopic pregnancy & pelvic inflammatory disease which in turn might cause infection to other body parts and eventually death. That is scary man. Just for preventing pregnancy risk going through all these? I don't think so.
Guys, please consider vasectomy.

Today I suddenly feel that I miss jc life. All those free periods, all the laughs, eating & chatting in the canteen. I miss some of my gud friends. Kind of sad that everyone has gone in various directions today. Hope to meet them soon.
One of the lessons in jc that I now miss is Paul Chow's. Biographies & Autobiographies. I can't believe I'm saying this. Hah. We used to feel panicky before his lessons because you could never predict his mood. Sometimes he was in a really good mood and bitched about some of the teachers and about life. But when he was pms-ing he was mean to us and was really sarcastic about students and would suddenly spring a question on you and ask you to explain it. Despite the uncertainty, I would say that overall... he is hardworking & a good teacher. His lessons just make you confused and think deeply about some issues.
For example, one of the points he probed us to explore was the concept of make-up. It goes like this: Is make-up used to conceal the truth (i.e. the face, in the literal sense) or is it to enhance your beauty? In the same sense, when we talk about (auto) biographers employing certain methods in their writing, are they trying to conceal or hide part of the truth or are they enhancing their writing? Makes you think ryte? We used to discuss why biographies & autobiographies sold better than fiction.
It all boils down to the tendency of humans being voyeuristic. Because we can only be ourselves, we want to read about other peoples' lives and try to step out of our own consciousness and "live in the skins" of others just for that short while. Ultimately, we are all peeping toms. You are reading my blog. Why? Because you are a peeping tom. Haha.
Another topic was why write biographies, when it is just a reflection of our lives (or is it?)?
First reason would be of course to satiate the readers' need to read about others' lives. With demand comes supply. Writers, on the other hand, also want to re-live their lives by writing about it again.
One argument that particularly intrigued me was the one about writing a diary. When we write a diary, we claim that it is just to pen down our thoughts and our memories blah blah blah.
However, we are actually writing our diaries (even our diaries!) for an audience. Sometimes we don't pen down the absolute truth even in our diaries because there is a thought in our subconscious mind that one day someone might find the diary and read it. So we take care in writing it because we wish that someone will eventually read the diary & understand our thoughts, understand us. Thus according to this, I am writing this for an audience as well.
Interesting ryte? I found it pretty interesting. I did not think Literature could make me think and ponder so much. Oh well, I guess it's thanks to Paul Chow.

Honey-buns and me might be going shopping tomorrow. I am on this mad shopping spree. Hah, maybe not mad but I have been buying things on impulse more than usual lately. Wonder what is up with that. Oh well, I still want to get some more clothes, I seem to be wearing the same thing over and over again. I want to get some good stuff and discard some older clothes.
I am currently reading a book called "Doctor Death". The author is Jonathan Kellerman. One of my favourites. There is a new book called "The Conspiracy Club". Seems like it is an introduction of a new character called Jeremy Carrier.

So far, the Alex Delaware series is just great, I can just keep reading. I wish men like Alex really do exist in this world. Life would be beautiful ryte? (:
Oh well. Maybe I am expecting too much from such simple-minded creatures.

First things first. My left eye is killing me! It's been very painful since yesterday and I instilled the drops given by SNEC but it's still so freaking painful. I have been living with partial blindness for the whole of today. Well ok not blindness, there seems to be some kinda "white curtain" blurring my already-lousy vision. I hope I can sleep it off. Usually it goes away after a few days. Inshallah....
Today was the first tutorial of the semester. Language & Cognitive Processes. When Rafeeza and I attended the first lecture, we were quite sure we made the wrong choice bidding for this module. Cos there weren't many people taking the module. And it turns out, the lecturer herself said that this module is not a breeze because it's pretty much invloves independent reading up and the like. And there are tons of readings to do.
However, I kind of enjoy the module. Perhaps enjoy is not the word. But it is interesting to know about language development and the disorders. Who knows? One day the world will be astounded when a particular Dr. Nazreen Sultana, Speech & Language Specialist, emerges. Haha.... Wait up world!

This is my first blog post! I have been so reluctant to start blogging, but my honey-buns has finally convinced me.
My bro just downloaded "Puthiya Geethai" and that is playing now. Vijay. What can I say about him? I think he looks like a "kueh". That chubby cheeks. Because he has such a kueh look, I just can't appreciate much of his acting. Only thing for sure is he can dance well. But seriously, that "kueh" look's gotta go. I mean look at Madhavan & Surya! Surya has the rugged look which is particularly attractive to me. And Madhavan has that undeniable smile... And look at Vijay! (Hope Vj fans are not mad at me!) Hah.
Oh well who am I to critique others based on their looks? I'm not Ms. Universe anyway. But that's the point. I am not Ms. Universe, so I keep my fat ass at home and watch TV and not try to act and appear in it. Maybe that's one thing some tamil actors should learn to do. And by saying this, I don't mean Vijay. I mean people like Sibi. Sometimes I don't even feel like seeing some movies cos of how it looks. I just wish the film industry improves.
God. I have been such a nag. (:
